Ex-EXTREME Guitarist NUNO BETTENCOURT No Longer Member Of SATELLITE PARTY

July 22, 2007

Former EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt has parted ways with SATELLITE PARTY, the new project led by JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell. "I worked with Perry Farrell for over three years on [SATELLITE PARTY's debut] album 'Ultra Payloaded'," Nuno writes in a statement. "Although I am very proud of the music and production of 'Ultra Payloaded', I have always felt uncomfortable with the direction of the lineup and live show. I truly do believe in the songs and music on the album, and I wish Perry Farrell and any musician that remains on tour all the best."

Released on May 29, "Ultra Payloaded" is a loose concept record about an organization called "the Solutionists" that wants to use music to change the world for the better. The album contains guest appearances from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea and guitarist John Frusciante, BLACK EYED PEAS singer Fergie and others, as well as what may be the last known recording made by late DOORS vocalist Jim Morrison.

"Ultra Payloaded" is packaged in "an entirely eco-friendly" digipack made exclusively out of recycled paper, while the disc itself is carbon-neutral. All the estimated carbon dioxide produced by the manufacture and shipping of the record will be offset by the construction of renewable energy projects.

SATELLITE PARTY will embark on a two-month North American tour in August.
